B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Was Not Was, Natalie Cole, Bon Jovi, Sting, Queen Latifah and Carly Simon. On stage, John has played alongside Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stan Getz, Pat Metheny, Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Michael Brecker, McCoy Tyner, Nancy Wilson, Randy Brecker, Freddie Hubbard, Tony Williams, Sting, Natalie Cole, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Astrud and Joao Gilberto, and Joao Bosco. John's many recordings with Chick Corea’s Elektric Band and Akoustic Band, his six solo recordings for GRP Records and his subsequent recordings have brought him two GRAMMY Awards and over fifteen nominations. In addition, his first solo recording, John Patitucci, went to number one on the Billboard Jazz charts. He is currently a Visiting Scholar at Berklee, teaching in both the Global Jazz Institute and the Bass Department. Prominently featured on Steely Dan’s GRAMMY-winning album from 2000, Two Against Nature, he has performed or recorded with many of the leading names in jazz, such as Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland, John Scofield, the Mingus Big Band, Jim Hall, Ray Brown, and many others. From his earliest performances in New York with Red Rodney to his pairings with Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette, Potter has made a veritable name for himself in the jazz world. Blige, Stefon Harris, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Peter Cincotti, Music Soulchild, Nellie McKay, Yellow Jackets, Joshua Redman, Steve Turre, and Lizz Wright to name a few. He has also performed with large ensembles such as the Village Vanguard Orchestra, Metropole Orkest, The Clayton Brothers, the Mingus Big Band, the Roy Hargrove Big Band, and the Bob Mintzer Big Band.
